Outdoor ed-- what an amazingly exhausting experience it always is. Thank you third grade for letting me tag along as your students showed so much perseverence, compassion, teamwork and enthusiasm (and maybe even some executive skills). It's a huge lift, but also results in experience that our students will remember for a long time. And, we even have some newly minted bike riders!
If you see a third grader, ask them what their highlight was- and if you see a third grade teacher (or Heather or Tamara), give them a huge thank you.

new information and need to know
Reminders for the final push: We got a good nudge from Joel today to remember to ¨keep it tight. "Free time" and movie days are not your friend. Engagement, structure, and on-task will get you through. It is a time for celebration - but also a time to focus on supervision!
I (Kendall, not Joel) also really liked this article from Angela at Truth for Teachers. She includes this line: It’s the great irony of the last week of the school year: there’s way too much for the teacher to do and not nearly enough for the students.
She also has this great article, with ways to get most of the packing up done with students in the last day. We will have check out info in next Friday's newsletter.
family newsletter: https://secure.smore.com/n/rn2b8
step up crew: is Tuesday, May 28th. You know the drill mostly, but here's the info on who is supporting who. Please let me know if you see any issues or have any questions!
PTO has limited funds available to support the Spanish for Educators summer academy course. Please let Aimee know if you are enrolling!
Want to learn more about culturally responsive teaching and the warm demander stance? Aimee will facilitate an online, asynchronous book study of Zaretta Hammond's text this summer. We have funds to buy books for CRES participants. Please let Aimee know if you plan to participate. This is a repeat offering, so you may also have colleagues with a book to lend.
Staff tech summer boxes: EOY information about the summer storage boxes (started last year) should be coming next week for things like your projector remote, doc cams, dongles, etc. Forms will be put into your boxes that will need to be filled out and put in the box with the rest of the materials. Sorry - it is a new form for each year since sometimes equipment moves or changes. We are trying to make this part of the checkout procedure so it is easy for Comm Techs to find boxes during the summer if needed and/or next school year. It can be very challenging to find things once the big summer clean happens in most rooms (furniture moved about, things stacked differently, etc).
Staff tech for those not returning/moving to another school: If you are not returning next year or moving schools, you will need to return your chromebook during your check out.
Staff tech questions: Please reach out to Jeane with any questions. She is our staff tech lead and maintains both the staff chromebook checkout/in list as well as the tech supplies in the closet in the STEM room.
fourth grade stars: PLEASE come sign them! They're in the staff saloon.
Shoutouts and FUN!
Thanks to Kendall and Daisie for teaching third graders to ride bikes in time for our trip!
I have a shout out for Kendall and Aimee for giving the second graders the opportunity to choose their own seats in the cafeteria. This might sound like "no big deal", but my students were SO excited to finally sit wherever they wanted after earning their points! I also appreciate your patience and tolerance for being in the cafeteria as much as you both are. It makes a difference for our students and is noticed, Thank you!

Mary
Shoutout to the Kinder Team for accepting me in their space this month to teach Bully Prevention Lessons, you are all rock stars! - Coreen
I have a shout out for the second grade team for maximizing our plan time to write meaningful and informative comments for report cards, our ability to put kids first and make small tweaks and changes to ensure balanced class lists for the upcoming school year, for our being spot on in our pacing implementing the Illustrative Math Curriculum year one and the list goes on! You gals are a great example of how teamwork should be!

Mary
Shoutout to our office staff-Anna Mae, Cheril, and Megan for always being a listening ear and helping others with flair. You help make CRES staff and students feel welcomed and appreciated. We appreciate you!
I have a shout out to the Literacy Team (Daisie, Tamsyn and Sarah), support teachers, and SSN for working together to plan a reading celebration that includes all second grade students. Thanks for being flexible and open to trying it in a way that looks different than in the past. Our students are looking forward to it and feeling prepared.
