Week of May 13

Happy staff appreciation week, everyone.  We appreciate you for SO many different things- your dedication, your reflectiveness, your commitment to each other and our students, the JOY you bring to every day (happy mismatch day!). We also appreciate you for the time, effort, skill, and heart that you put into helping all of our students become readers. Our dibels growth looks AMAZING- check out the graphic above! From August to now, we have moved ninety seven kids from below grade level to on/above grade level. Ninety seven kids are now readers, thanks to all of you- and there are still 13 days left!

We are also grateful for the teamwork that this work takes. You are all willing to jump in wherever and whenever. Thanks to those who are teaching kids how to ride bikes, tie shoes, solve soccer disputes, and everything else. Here's Dean playing large number “before -1 and after +1” with the first grade math intervention crew- what can't that man do!

new information and need to know:

class list update I (Kendall) will share the current class list document with all certified staff on Monday morning. If you don't get it, let me know! Please make comments on it over the next two weeks. We will then restrict access again. When you comment, please offer solutions (e.g. swap Taylor in 2A for Beyonce in 2B), instead of just saying "this class looks tough". Thank you! Homeroom teachers, it's suggested that you use the time you would meet with me on Monday for this work, but if another time works better, great. It is ideal to do it as a team.

Lit Bit- This week interventionists will be taking students in round 2. There is no required progress monitoring anymore, but if students are working towards achieving a goal or are in MTSS you may want to keep it going. Decide on a student by student basis.

Staffing updates: In addition to Hannah Prescott (1st), Savanna (3rd), Jenn (4th), and Lauren (Spanish), we have a few more staffing announcements to share:

-Jess Kreiling is transitioning to the PEAK position and will also be supporting newcomers.
-Salvador Castanon will be joining the 2nd grade team
-Cassidy Nevilas Rogala will be joining the 3rd grade team

housing need: One of our new teachers, Savanna, did not win the housing lottery and is looking for a place. Please send any leads to Aimee and Kendall!

I (Aimee) was unable to schedule any more Mr. G visits based on his availability. I know this leaves some teachers with only one visit, and I'm sorry. We can talk about this in an upcoming team meeting. Sorry!

shoutouts and fun:

A huge shoutout to PTO for helping us all feel appreciated this week for staff appreciation. We appreciate YOU.

Shout out to our whole amazing staff!!! I think every single person gave me a big smile, a "welcome back", a hug, or checked how I was doing last week being back to work. I appreciate you all and it makes being away from the babe so much easier! Thank you for your support! -Kathryn

Shout out to Tamara for embracing the gift card swap game.  She gave me a long, thoughtful appreciative comment even though she was content with her gift card.  You made me feel really good, Tamara, and thanks for playing the game in the best possible way.  Love from Mary G

Thanks to all the peeps who supported me through writing another IEP and meeting.  The process is so much more nice and smooth when people willingly and kindly give their time and information.  We make a good team, y'all.  I'm grateful to all of you!  Love from Mary the Groomeinator

Fun Friday baking!

Shout out to the kitchen staff--Matt, Gabby, and Andrew--for doing such important work so kindly every darn day.  We appreciate all of you!
