Week of April 29th

It's gonna be May! End of year events have started, kicked off by an amazing art show. Thank you Sue for all you do for our students and also for our community as a school. There was laughter, conversation, and amazement at the talent of all of our students.

My favorite part of spring is not just the big events, but also the little moments; for those of you who know these two first graders, this moment of cooperation is a huge achievement!

new information and need to know:

Ram of the Moment is back and looks new! We’ll get it into the rotation this week.

The 1/2 pod and 3/4 pod bathrooms will not have stocked paper towels for now. We have had MANY instances of wet paper towels thrown around bathrooms and PM custodians are complaining. Teachers, will you please let students know about this change and why it is happening?

If you need to purchase any math consumables before the 24-25 school year for your grade level, please submit an order to Megan. Please include Aimee so I can monitor budgets before the end of the year. Thank you!

If you haven't already, please sign up for an end of year evaluation meeting with Aimee or Kendall

4th graders have designed enthusiastic coffee sleeves to help spread joy throughout our community. If you want one, go get a coffee at Dos Gringos starting tomorrow after school!

Literacy Intervention Celebration: In our tradition of recognizing students’ achievements we would like to hold a small celebration for students who attend literacy intervention during CREW on the following dates.
Monday May 20th 1st grade
Tuesday May 22st 2nd grade**
Thursday May 24th 3rd grade
Friday May 25th 4th grade
Logistics:
*We will come to the pod at 8:05 and escort students to the outdoor classroom
*We will invite families to join us
*Each child will receive a certificate with a personalized recognition of their reading progress
*We will return students to classrooms by 8:35
***Second grade-please reach out to us with your modifications

Lit Bit: The EOY window will open on Monday April 29th - May 10th. Crazy that this is already upon us, but let's ensure focused environments so that our students can show all that they have learned this year.  Here is a quick refresher on all things DIBELS.  Please reach out to the Literacy team if you have any questions or need any help.

reminder: please don't prop doors! If kids need to go out and get something, another kid needs to wait inside and hold the door. It's a safety concern, AND can invite small critters inside.

Have opinions about district ERW? We are seeking teachers who are interested in joining a volunteer advisory group that includes the Instructional Team for district ERWs. The goal of this group is to provide additional input on district ERW structures, content, etc that improves the quality of instruction in every classroom and student achievement outcomes. We hope to have one teacher from each level (ES, MS, HS) with representation across communities (Glenwood, Carbondale, Basalt) for a total of 3-4 teachers. Teachers who are content leads will already be included in this advisory group and do not count as the 3-4 teachers. We will aim to select teachers whose community is not already represented by a content lead.

Please fill out this form  by May 10, 2024 to indicate your interest. Reach out to Chief Academic Officer Stacey Park (spark@rfschools.com) with any questions.

shououts!
Thank you to everyone who helped make the art show such a success. Especially Dean for making the best cave ever, Tamara for helping set up and take down, and Marty for allowing me to make the gym into an art gallery for the week! The kids and families were so proud of their hard work and I really appreciate CRES's support! Sue

making new friends!

ABC countdown is off to a strong start! Airplanes, bubbles, and colors this past week- what's up for next week?

I'm grateful for the opportunity to support 2nd graders at RBR this week.  Thanks to Heather, Kendall, Tamara, Jessica, and Isidra for facilitating this opportunity!  Love from Mary G

I have a shout out for Coreen for bringing in Meghan Backofen to read her book “Who’s in Charge of This Body?” The students loved her story, the opportunity to pet her dog and we’re all receptive to her message of being in control of all their senses and knowing when someone is making them feel uncomfortable. Mary

Shout out to Aimee and Kendall (from Meather) for supporting SSN students and their programming now and in the future.  Thanks for your time, ideas, and collaboration!

I have a shout out for our ACES educators for providing a fun, engaging and memorable field experience for our students this Thursday at Rock Bottom Ranch. Thanks for being flexible with our transportation needs on short notice too! Mary
