Week of April 14

A week that started with wonder and awe. While we may not have a solar eclipse every day, we can find moments of awe for ourselves and our students. This article from Greater Good talks about all of the benefits of awe. While many of us find that outside in our mountains and rivers, I challenge you to find some moments of awe in your classrooms. It's one of the best parts of working with small humans-- they are almost constantly in awe!

Also, check out how third grade is helping their students self reflect on their engagement.

Finally, Emma made her own behavior chart-- "try not to be mean, be good, and love each other". What more do you need to learn in kindergarten?

new information

April 22 PD Day: We will have coffee at 8, and meet as a staff from 8:30-11:30. There will be a potluck lunch (optional, of course!) if you are interested- bring some food and hang out!

Staff: if you do not have a ChromeBox and you want one for 24-25, please let Aimee know by the end of April.

Ram of the Moment Award: The award is broken and showed up in the office work room. The notebook is missing. If you have it or see it, please return to Aimee's mailbox. It's a hardcover notebook with a Ram on the cover. Thank you!

Spring NWEA:

The window is April 22-May 10th. Kinder and first need to do math, and 2-4 need to do math and reading. Please put your test times on the CRES events calendar! (thanks second grade for being on top of it!)

Lit Bit:
Next week we will be progress monitoring the round 1 students during intervention time.  Tamsyn and Sarah will also test the students in Ruby's class and Eliott's class.

Just a heads up about EOY: the DIBELS window is from April 29-May1 10.  I know that many grade level will also be doing NWEA so you'll want to plan accordingly.

Elementary InquirEd Working Group

The district is looking for interested individuals who would like to participate in an InquirEd working group this summer. We will meet for one day 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. to compile a document intended to support teachers K-5 who teach Inquiry Journeys. Participants will receive a stipend for their time. The objective and scope of the work are indicated below.

If you are interested, please complete this form

Elementary InquirEd General Feedback

Teachers, please take five minutes to answer some questions about InquirEd on this form. Audra Pickett is putting together a working group for InquirEd support at each grade level. She would like to know what's going well, any challenges you're experiencing, what we can improve, and ways you're enhancing the Inquiry Journeys. Please also indicate ways you might be addressing challenges implementing the Inquiry Arcs. For example, if there's a reading in the lesson you've found online, are you supplementing with audiobook options? If you have pictures of the Inquiry Products you and your class have created, please upload images at the end of this form. If you would like to complete this form as a grade-level team, please do so! Thank you so much for taking time to share your input.
