Spring Break! and April

Check out this quick, quiet, and calming brain break in Carly's room. Kids are moving, breathing, and slowing down-- it's both a movement tool AND a calming tool!

Casey's class worked together to welcome their new student.

new information:

SEL Monday:

I (Kendall) will not be joining teams for meetings since it's your first day back-- but please take a moment to think about how you will be revisiting zones (and teaching the triggers lessons) as we return from a break, and into spring excitement. Here's the slide deck, and what you wrote in the implementation document- I'll share these again on Monday morning.

Hiring updates:

  • Jenn Lauckhart accepted a position on the 4th grade team after completing her student teaching with 4th grade this year. Welcome, Jenn!
  • Hannah Prescott is transferring from Riverview and is joining the 1st grade team. She attended CRES, and will be colleagues with her mom Tamsyn!
  • Savanna Joao accepted a position on the 3rd grade team. She will be moving from Georgia this summer, and came to CRES today to visit.
  • Lauren DeAre is transferring from Basalt Elementary and will be teaching Spanish.
  • Kelly M and Heidi S will be job sharing in 2nd grade next year.
  • We could not have made this much progress with hiring without your participation in interviews. We know it's been a big push, and we are truly grateful. Every internal candidate I've talked to has mentioned the strong reputation that CRES has in the district, and that is because of YOU.

Aimee is looking for morning duty coverage Thursday 4/4 at 7:45 to attend a meeting. Please let her know if you can help.

Field update: They will be working on the sod over spring break. They will start by the soccer goals. If an area is fenced off, please keep kids off of it!

ERW: I need third grade and fourth grade, plus all language and support teachers (not SSN or specials) to do CMAS training on Wednesday. We will keep it short! At 2:45, we will record the CMAS video and would love EVERYONE to be there. The kids love seeing your faces in it! I'll send out lyrics in advance. Bring costumes!

MAZE: 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade teachers it is time for our monthly MAZE progress monitor.  Be sure to let students know the EOY goals that they are striving for.
Kinder: Tamsyn and Sarah will be progress monitoring students in Ruby's class and Eliott's class.

shoutouts! and fun!

Sue- WOW you are the best! Thank you for working with my class to create this amazing poster!! It made me SOO HAPPY! I will miss everyone while on maternity leave but next time I see you, I'll have baby with me!! 🥰 HAPPY SPRING BREAK!

Here is a picture of students in Imagination Lab acting out stories about pollinators and building their knowledge of pollination. These kiddos were acting out "The Ants and the Grasshopper" and the whole class turned to watch as they used their imaginations to come up with movements to match the text which is exactly what we as teachers want students to be able to do! 😉 Mary

Shout out to all the teachers and service providers and administrators who are supporting me with their time and expertise and patience as I learn to write IEPs and conduct the meetings. -Love from the Groomeinator

I have a shout out for Coreen for teaching the second grade bullying lessons in an engaging and meaningful way. This is a big issue happening frequently and the kids are learning how to recognize it, report it and refuse to let it happen at CRES. Thanks for taking this on Coreen! Mary

Appreciation for Paulina and Tori for masterfully handling a challenging meeting.

Huge thanks to the third grade team for the delicious snacks! And to Bryant for all the egg decorating...

A gift for Ms. Ruby....

I have a funny kids quote that made me laugh out loud. After our student-led conferences we took time to reflect and write about a highlight and challenge from the conference. I can't imagine what she says about me! 😂 Mary

Shoutout to BOTH Marys for being the shout out queens!

Thanks to Kelly and Daisie for helping an injured colleague.
