Week of February 5

Green zone happiness? Or maybe even yellow!

Check out how proud this newcomer student is of her spelling assessment!

Josefina told me a story last week about her kindergarteners. She said she was feeling frustrated about something, and they took it upon herself to teach her ALL the ways she could calm down. Had she heard of a glitter jar? Did she know how to rainbow breathe?
A gratitude for all of you and ALL of the skills you are teaching. Spelling patterns, snowshoeing, and rainbow breathing- they are all critical!

Staffing: Some positions are or will be posted on Frontline:
-Spanish teacher
-ELD teacher
-4th grade teacher

These are anticipated positions posted to solicit applications while we work through the budget process. If you are interested in any of these anticipated positions, please talk to Aimee ASAP. Specifically, if you're interested in ELD, please let Aimee know by 2/7/24. (WEDNESDAY) Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Programming and Staffing Processes: ItÅ› that time of year again. This document has an overview of our timeline for planning for next year; it should feel very similar to last year. Here is the leveraging resources survey- we will also give you some time for this at an ERW, but I know that many of you like to take time to think and respond, and we appreciate that!

Elementary Levels: Elementary leaders will be here next Thursday morning for our monthly meeting. We will be walking through some classrooms- the goal of these walk throughs is for the leaders to improve our observation processes, not to reflect on how we are doing as a school.

Ladles of Love: You are all welcome to come! No ticket needed. Come eat soup, browse silent auction, etc!

Pledge: The pledge will start again next week - it happens when I can get inside pretty quickly after the bell. Please don't wait more than a minute or so after the bell. - Aimee

TLCC Survey:
Use your code and turn yours in! If you have any troubles, ask Sacha for help.

stem need: For the month of February for STEM: ISO clean, empty cereal boxes or similarly thin (non-corrugated) cardboard, please place into the black milk crate labelled "cereal boxes". Thank you!

shoutouts and fun:
I have a shoutout for Colby for covering my class for a few minutes while I dealt with an unexpected behavior/moment.

I am so very grateful to all the people throughout our school who have supported me professionally and personally throughout the year and especially in the past week.  There are too many of you to name, which in and of itself is a huge blessing for me and my family.  I appreciate all of your patience, kindness, compassion, and support. -Mary G

"Ahhh my belly!" -3rd grader whose belly touched the snow while making a den.

ready for spring!

The second grade team is a wealth of knowledge and I really appreciate their patience, perspectives and innovative thinking!  Love, K-L
