Weeks of January 16 and 22

Check out Cody, self reflecting on his chart at the end of the day. He's doing math, reflecting on his behavior, and self evaluating!

And some serious determination happening in PE!

Welcome back! I always think of September (well, I guess, August these days) as being like the new year- coming back to school, buying new clothes, settling into routines.... But I do love that the new year lines up with halfway through our school year. We can settle back into our routines, and build new ones.

Joel Hathaway shared this reading with leaders this week, and I really appreciated it. How can you "resolve to always be resolving"?

behavior update: This week was pretty quiet on the behavior front! We have a strong team ready to respond, so please continue to text for support. Remember, include the student's name and the level of urgency. We are also finding it helpful if you include your name- perhaps in your location? Send any feedback to Kendall.

from Coreen:

I just wanted to say thank you to teachers for being flexible and patient as I organize and present groups and individuals and my new caseload for Round 3 and this semester. I really appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Please shoot me an email if you have questions on your students times and days and we can work together to make it work for both you and me. Round 3 will start next week, January 16th and end Friday, February 23rd.

With Love,

Coreen

access:
A reminder that there will be no language classes the week of January 22nd. The testing schedule for access is in the building schedule document, to the right. There will be no ERW on the 24th in order to give back some of this plan time. Please be mindful of rooms that are testing!

Lit Bit:
DIBELS Progress Monitor:  We are back to a regular progress monitor schedule.  Interventionists will be taking Round 1 students on Wednesday. We will be taking a break from the MAZE this month because of the break.

Goal Setting: This is a great time to revisit goals with students, especially after looking at growth data.  Here is the schoolwide folder for different graphs used for DIBELS testing.

recess: It's going to be cold next week! Our guidelines say that recess should be indoors if its 10 degrees or less. However, I know there can be a lot of variance with whether or not the sun is out, wind chill, etc... Use your best judgement. It's up to the duty team to decide if it's going to be indoor or outdoor recess each day.

book room:
Sarah and Tamsyn have moved the wright skills books and the flyleaf books to their rooms. Feel free to borrow some from them! Also, if you use books in the bookroom, will you tell me which ones? Working on a new book room plan....

ladles of love: Mark your calendars for February 9th! If you can share this save the date in your newsletters, please do so. Also, if you have ideas for creative auction items (I'm auctioning off a fire-alarm pull-- maybe a grade level could auction off an extra recess, to be decided by the winning child? or getting to choose all the table arrangements in a classroom? who knows!), please let me know!
