Week of September 5

School goal #1 in two different ways-- students connecting and laughingaround a name game in Mandy's room, and it was a name game that Casey taught Mandy! Here's to teamwork and laughter; they really do make every day better.

So much thinking and explaining of thinking happening with pattern blocks and math centers in Kelly's room. School goal #2 in action!

New information:

Please review dismissal procedures, which we discussed at BLT:

Over the next week or two, if you have an empty cardboard egg carton you would normally recycle, please save it for STEM. We will be doing “offline” coding with them. Thank you! 😃

Could you use the support of a parent volunteer, either for a specific project or for ongoing support? If so, please complete this document:
We will share it with PTO and folks who are interested in volunteering!

PD schedule here - teams, please sign up for snacks!

Pay for additional duties for certified are now part of our annual budget. Information can be found here:
Pre-approval for additional duties is recommended. Please complete this form to be compensated:

Lunch Numbers: We have tried a LOT of different systems (thanks Mandy and Holly for being willing to be my trial people for yet another one-- that didn't work!), and have found a good system in K/1 but are having limited success in older grades. After talking to other schools, we are going to ask 2/3/4 to learn their lunch numbers. Here is an awesome tool that could help them learn, and here are their bus numbers. I will send 2-3-4 homeroom teachers a slide show they can use to advertise a PIZZA contest for the first grade level to learn!

Popsicles debrief
Staff, thank you for getting outside for Treats with Teachers yesterday! PTO was ready to help with stations and grade level signs, but... they thought it was Friday instead of Thursday! We will so appreciate them scouring grocery stores for popsicles, and we appreciate your flexibility. Feedback about this is welcome - please share with your BLT rep.

Popsicles, part 2
We have enough leftovers for each grade level to have a popsicle party . Proposal: grade levels, please decide when you'd like to do this sometime in the next week or so. Popsicles are in Chef Matty's freezer, so you can ask the kitchen for access. When we can fit them in the lounge fridge, we'll move them!

Family newsletter link

Lit Bit: Thank you to everyone for helping us have a great start to small reading groups. We will be sending home our letters that let families know about their child's small reading group and language groups next Friday (We like to wait a few days in case there is movement).  Please be sure to refer to these classes as "small reading groups".  We like to avoid the language of intervention with the students.  Reach out with any questions!

shoutouts and fun!

Shoutout to Kristin Gracy for teaching ALL the things.

Shout out to Kathryn for going above and beyond starting a new position at CRES and for joining me on this awesome journey of helping students who need mental health support. Thank you for being awesome!
