October!

Third grade did some outside measuring this week! While the weather felt like summer this week, the leaves are clearly saying that it's just about October. This is one of my favorite times at school, when routines are in place and the growth is so clear in the past 6.5 weeks. Take a moment to celebrate how far your students have come.

new information:

ERW: This is a district Wednesday. For classroom teachers, we will use this time to write Read Plans.  You will have more time allocated on October 11th if needed.  Sarah will be sending out an email with more details at the start of next week.

Lit Bit:

DIBELS:
  • This week intensive students in ROUND 2 will be progress monitored 1-4.
  • 2-4 will complete a MAZE progress monitor with their entire homeroom class.  This seems easier to manage and we have found kids need more practice in order to understand the platform.  There are graphs in the "DIBELS Goal Setting "folder.  You can also find it at this link
Read Plans:

  • We will use ERW time on October 4th (training/Review of writing them in Educlimber) and 11th (more work time) for Read Plans.  These are needed for conferences.
  • Home Connect letters (with the DIBELS BOY data) will be printed and put in your mailboxes before conferences. Thank you, Tamsyn for doing this for all teachers!
Thanks to Tamsyn, Paula, and Marty for helping with a long PM bus duty on Wednesday!

shout out to kinder... the first graders had a big head start this year in reading groups.  They had a pretty good idea about expectations and many had clearly done this before!
-1st Grade

Thanks to everyone who covered my duties while I was gone, and who reached out to show care. I am so grateful to work with all of you.

Electrical Fire Update
The day of the fire has still been on my mind a lot this past week. I am so glad that all our students knew the evacuation plan and got out safely!
The electrician's analysis was that the actual outlet was loose and did not have a secure connection to the wiring therefore causing the fire. I definitely feel more at ease knowing the reason.
Thank you to those of you who checked in on me and my students!

Shout out to Hannah for being so patient and willing to try different things to figure out what works for her students! I appreciate your collaborative attitude!
