Week of August 28

One full week in the books! It always amazes me how quickly we settle into our new and old routines (that fire drill today felt like a well oiled machine!), and how quickly a new group of students can feel like family. One more full week, and then a long weekend to take a breath!
Casey's class driving their own learning during math centers.
Aimee's favorite breathing strategy! (no one tell Dexter...)

Ruby's class taking a deep breath together. What's your class's favorite breathing strategy so far?

New information:

treats with teachers: We are trying this out after school on Thursday, 8/31! There will be coolers of popsicles near grade level doors. It's an informal time to say hi to parents and check-in, and is in lieu of a back to school night. We will walk around at 3:40 to help you exit if any parents are lingering. Here's a visual you can send to your class!

We won’t be starting the Parent Mentor program next week because we are delayed in collecting background checks, and unfortunately, that makes us move the start date to the week of September 4th. Our expected growth to 60 mentors this year has required more capacity and time.
Thank you for understanding that safety comes first for our Program. We value your time and trust, and we are committed to starting the program year off to a great start!

Great news, Colby Fulton has accepted the ELD position for the 23-24 school year. She will be a 0.8 FTE and starts on Monday. Thank you for welcoming her!

I'm trying to find 6 Chromebooks that can be in the STEM room for a station, as well as a cart that can be housed in the STEM room but available for a grade level. If you have ideas, let Aimee know!

We are still working out the details but the Colorado Ballet assembly is tentatively scheduled for 10/20.

Coreen and Kathryn's behavior tip of the week! (this might seem familiar to some of you- I think there are even some of these signs still around!)

The 5:1 Ratio! Research supports the idea that having five positive interactions to every one negative interaction best supports and sustains constructive student-teacher relationships. The 5:1 ratio improves students' feelings of connectedness and positivity which naturally leads to improved behavior and academic engagement.
Need a visual reminder? Print this to hang up in your classroom!

Staff extension and room number list is here in case you want one for by your phone!

If you DO NOT want help with your Friday folders, please let Kendall know and she will give PTO a list. Otherwise, we assume you want help!

From Audra Pickett about Social Studies: Rachel Strang, our InquirED Implementation Coach, shared news that bulk printing for Inquiry Journeys is now available. The instructions for bulk printing are here. You can print lesson plans and all materials for each module. If you have any questions, please reach out To Audra.

Request for Teachers for Summit54 Tutoring 2023: Summit54 would like to offer you the opportunity to participate in an “After-School Small Group Tutoring Program,” in cooperation with Roaring Fork School District, during the 2023/24 school year. LICENSED TEACHERS WANTED TO TEACH FOR SUMMIT54 SPONSORED FREE AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAM. PAY- $65/ONE HOUR SESSION.   The one-hour tutoring sessions will commence immediately after school and will be offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Click here to learn more.

There are google sign-in issues district wide right now. Tech is aware and working on it. Sometimes it works to use the student credential instead of the clever badge- worth a try!

We are also having some issues with Mclass rostering, but those should be worked out by Monday.

school crew: Homeroom teachers (including kinder this year!) please add names for September onwards on here. I've already done August. Please do this by Friday, September 1!

Math update: Everyone should have all of the non-consumable materials as of this week since the rulers finally arrived. Picture books are being processed for Kindergarten, but 3rd and 1st should have theirs. Aimee ordered sheet protectors (for centers, spinners...) and card stock for any extra game boards you might need to make. These materials should be shared at the grade level.

The agreements that were made by teachers and leaders last spring as we began implementing IM are here

Lit Bit: As we are all learning more about the new Mclass platform we will be trying to send helpful hints in the newsletter. A few observations from the intervention team:
1. Kids are typically staying in the same color band (Yeah!).
2. While the comp scores are VERY different in number, we notice that the probe scores are fairly similar.

We will be putting a new color printed Benchmark cut score page in your mailboxes.  Please keep this next to your testing materials so that you can reference it.  Thank you for working hard to get the MAZE assessments done.

Hi CRES Staff--We are so excited to start a new school year with you all. This year Kathryn and I have a Counselor Referral Google Form that will be in QR code format for each classroom. As well as, a link located near the MTSS form on the staff newsletter. If you need to refer a student for counseling services please fill out the form with either format/ link and we will follow up. Each time a referral is submitted we receive an email on our end saying that someone sent a referral. If you have any questions please let us know!
With love,
Coreen and Kathryn
